It is time for DeafBlind Leadership NOW!
The DeafBlind Leadership NOW (DBLN) movement ignited on July 22, 2024, when a hearing-sighted person was appointed as the Executive Director of Helen Keller National Center (HKNC), once again passing over talented and qualified DeafBlind candidates. The community mobilized and 262 DeafBlind petitioners, including authors, business owners, community organizers, lawyers, and parents, signed a historic petition demanding a DeafBlind-led HKNC.
But DBLN is not just about HKNC, it is about DeafBlind Leadership NOW, period.
DBLN's mission is to recognize DeafBlind talent, remove barriers to DeafBlind leadership, and promote qualified DeafBlind individuals to leadership positions.
It's time for real change. It's time for DeafBlind Leadership NOW.
Read the historical petition for more information on the HKNC situation.
